The Samsung Galaxy A36 is a much-awaited mid-range smartphone for 2025, which is speculated to be out in early 2025 as part of the Samsung A-series smartphone lineup. Between the premium flagship offerings and low-cost options, a certain balance of performance with affordability is expected here. Here is a breakdown of what we know so far:
Design & Display
The Galaxy A36 would probably still carry a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution at 1080x 2340 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, which is something of the new norm for the series. Samsung would probably reduce the bezels even further and equip it with a punch-hole front camera for an even higher screen-to-body ratio. Gorilla Glass Victus+ should protect the front glass from scrapes and drops.
Apparently, the A36 is said to be underpinned by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and will come with good mid-range performance. It will feature 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and expand up to 1TB via a hybrid microSD slot. This new chipset is said to have better processing power and energy efficiency from that of the Exynos chip predecessor, the A35.
Camera Setup
The Galaxy A36 should go to the rear with a triple camera setup. The rear cameras will, therefore, use a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP macro lens. On the front, there should be a hidden selfie camera with a punch-hole display, presumably at 32MP. The rear camera would enable capturing the right photo and video quality as it records 4K videos at 30fps.
Battery & Charging
The A36 will likely feature a 5000mAh battery, which should be enough for most users. The device will come supporting up to 25W fast charging; however, like other mid-range Samsung models, wireless charging is unlikely to be available on the A36. The company has been focusing on power efficiency, thus optimising processes that ensure better battery life despite the large capacity of the battery involved.
Software & Features
As of this writing, Samsung has placed its midrange Galaxy A36 on Android 15 with One UI 7.1, which brings a slew of features to first-time users, such as support for satellite communications, notification controls, and deeper AI integrations. It promises four major Android updates and five years of security patches to ensure longevity from the software standpoint.
Connectivity
As a 5G-ready smartphone, the Galaxy A36 will have the support of networks both on 4G and 5G. Some other connectivity features provided by the device are Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB-C port. Specifically, the device will not have any provision for a 3.5mm headphone jack or FM radio as Samsung is continuing the trend of removing those heritage features in favor of wireless audio.
Price & Availability
The Samsung Galaxy A36 is going to be launched in the mid-range market for around 34 thousand, which is about $400. Samsung typically unveils its A-series variants in March. That means the Galaxy A36 should come in mid-March 2025.
The Samsung Galaxy A36 is something of a balanced mid-range device with a pretty good display quality, moderate performance, and a versatile camera setup. Competitive pricing and solid software support make it a product to really be looked at for that right balance in features without the premium tag.
